From August 15 to August 21, 2025, the SMM secondary lead weekly operating rate in four provinces was 39.41%, a WoW decline of 1.56 percentage points. The production situation of smelters in Anhui and Jiangsu regions this week changed relatively little compared to last week. Some plants in Anhui region plan to halt production next week due to loss pressures, with SMM expecting the operating rate in Anhui to drop by more than 4 percentage points. In Henan and Inner Mongolia, some smelters saw a decrease in production, mainly because the scrap lead-acid battery recycling business in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area and nearby regions temporarily slowed down due to the upcoming parade, exacerbating tight raw material supply. Overall, losses and raw material supply pressure are the main factors limiting secondary lead production, and it is expected that the operating rate for secondary lead will continue to decline next week.
